Emergency Member Relief & Recovery Plan / Coronavirus COVID-19 Update 4.23.2020

Thank you for your understanding and compassion during this unprecedented time! Best Financial Credit Union (BFCU) knows that members may be impacted by experiencing loss of income or incurring additional expenses during this pandemic.  We have had an Emergency Relief program in place for weeks and wanted to go over a few items. Members who are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19 may be eligible for some of these programs on a by request basis. 

BFCU will request an Emergency Member Relief and Recovery Plan Questionnaire from all members requesting assistance. This questionnaire may be filled out using the following URL: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/P3NQ3TR

Following the receipt of a questionnaire, a Member Service Representative will reach out to each member individually and determine which programs, if any, you, the member, would qualify for.

The programs that are currently in place include:

  1. Skip Payments
    1. Eligible for the following loan types: Auto Loans, Unsecured and Variable Rate Home Equities. 
    2. Credit Cards and FlexSense loans are ineligible for the skip payment
  2. Forbearance Plan (Fixed Mortgages)
    1. What is a Forbearance Plan?
      1. A forbearance plan is an agreement that allows borrowers experiencing a temporary hardship to make a reduced mortgage payment or no mortgage payment at all during the plan’s term. Under a forbearance plan the monthly payment obligation is temporarily suspended based on the plan agreement. 
  3. Credit Card Limit Increase
  4. Waiving / Refunding of Service Charges
  5. Personal Line of Credit

First of all, thank you for your understanding and compassion during this unprecedented time! Your membership means the world to us. We have received numerous phone calls and text messages about the Stimulus Checks, and we are fielding these communications as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience. Please understand the IRS is sending these checks in waves, so your neighbor who banks with us may have received theirs when you haven’t. Please don’t be alarmed, there are three (3) more weeks of Stimulus funds coming our way from information we have gathered on the IRS website. In the mean time you can visit www.irs.gov/EIP for an estimated deposit date of your funds and where it is expected to be sent. (It does state on the IRS website, that it is only updated once per day).

MISS BUTTONS, our automated phone teller, is also experiencing higher than normal call volumes - she’s tired. We recommend calling her first thing in the morning, or later in the evening.

Due to the continued spread of the Coronavirus – COVID-19 outbreak, we are doing our best to be in compliance with the government’s recommendations while maintaining a high level of service to our members and protecting the health of our members and team.

Effective Friday, March 27, 2020 we will be changing our branch hours. Both branches will remain drive thru only during the time frames outlined below:

Monday - Friday 9 AM to 5 PM

Saturday 9 AM to Noon (Sherman Branch Only)

Today the residents of the State of Michigan were ordered to stay-at-home in the fight against the Coronavirus-COVID-19.

As a financial institution we are considered an essential service and as your credit union we are committed to staying open to serve you. Our drive-thru will continue to be available during business hours as well as our lobby by appointment.

If you are experiencing a financial hardship please contact one of our experts to determine a solution that will work for you.

Continue to access your account and services via the following options:

  • Mobile App
  • Online Banking and Bill Pay
  • Drive-up ATMs as well as drive-up teller windows
  • Call / Text Center at 231-733-1329 during regular business hours

If you do not currently have an active ATM or Debit card please contact us today to place an order for one to be mailed to you or picked up at our main office at 1888 E. Sherman Blvd. in Muskegon.

Remember, your funds are federally insured, safe and available to you if you need them.

Additionally, we have 30,000+ FREE ATMs on the Co-Op Network (1 at each of our locations) where you can do your banking without going into a branch.

Your security remains a top priority for us as well. Please remember that we will never ask you to provide confidential information, such as Social Security numbers or account numbers, by phone or email.
